Shawn Mendes goes shirtless as he creates nostalgia for idyllic travel in newly released music video for romantic anthem Summer Of Love
Shawn Mendes’ latest music video release for his new single Summer Of Love painted a picture of just that.
The 23-year-old singer teamed up with Puerto Rican record producer Tainy on a new track and released a video on Thursday that created nostalgia for carefree travel and summer romance.
In the three minute video, the Canadian born crooner is seen shirtless while relaxing on a boat and playing in the ocean among friends, along with some stylistically sweaty clubbing scenes.
Summer Of Love: Shawn Mendes, 23, delights fans as he goes shirtless and soaks up the Mallorcan sun in video for his latest single Summer Of Love with Tainy
Filmed in Mallorca, the video shows the Wonder singer taking in all the country has to offer as he rides around in a convertible and enjoys days by the ocean.
A true romance anthem, he sings about ‘kisses on your body’ and being ‘tangled in the sheets’ while seducing the camera with his smooth voice and killer good looks.
Despite the song seemingly being an ode to his girlfriend of two years Camila Cabello, the song undeniably pulled at viewer’s heart strings.
Taking it in: The video opens with him driving down the roads in Mallorca in a red convertible
Sunset love: Other early scenes show the Wonder singer wearing an unbuttoned white blouse which later gets soaked as he frolics in the ocean
Sunset dip: During a sunset swim his collared shirt gets periodically more soaked and unbuttoned
Chiseled: The three-minute video features no shortage of shirtless moments
Though he remains predominantly shirtless throughout the entirety of the video he switches it up as he models a few different barely buttoned collared shirts and a mesh blouse.
Other scenes in the video feature him on a sailing yacht with a myriad of attractive friends and models and others of him strumming on the guitar against a Spanish cottage lined with vines.
The wet and wild music video also includes a clubbing scene where he sips on Don Julio tequila and parties it up on a packed dance floor and shots of him in the water in orange swim trunks.
Dreamy: Some of the video takes place on a sailboat throughout the day until sunset
Lavish: Another still featured an expansive spread on a boat as they sailed until sunset
On the sea: And he is seen relaxing with friends on a boat as he showed off a tan
Wading: At one point he slipped on orange swim trunks as he crooned into the camera
Best life: And naturally he tapped a handful of attractive youthful extras to appear alongside him in the video
The single is his second more Latin-leaning hit after he teamed up with Colombian singer-songwriter Camilo for a bilingual remix of the song Kesi.
And as he chose to release the very idyllic video — which he has been teasing for the last few days — amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic that has many longing for the ease of international travel, the visuals were received quite well.
Shawn had first shared snaps from Spain in early August as he posed on a white convertible featured in the music video.
And ahead of its release he had shared a video of himself walking through the packed streets of New York as fans screamed for him. ‘Some real summer love in New York’ he wrote.
Party time: Another scene showed him drinking Don Julio before letting loose in a club
Video vixens: The video featured a stunning model who Shawn snapped photos of as he painted the idea of unabashed romance
A man and his guitar: Other stills showed off the gorgeous Spanish backdrop as he strummed on his acoustic guitar
Free: ‘I hope this song makes people feel free, free from the weight of life, even if just for a moment’ he said of the new video
Sensitive soul: ‘There’s a lot of sweetness and tenderness,’ his girlfriend Camila told Bustle in an interview earlier this week
Speaking about the new video on his Instagram he said ‘I hope this song makes people feel free, free from the weight of life, even if just for a moment.’
And naturally his partner and Senorita collaborator Cabello was nothing short of supportive as she re-posted a still and wrote ‘I love this video and this song so much.’
Camila recently opened up about the pair’s relationship — which has continued to thrive in quarantine — in a new interview with Bustle.
‘There’s a lot of sweetness and tenderness. I think we’re both sensitive. I’m really lucky to be able to surround myself with tenderness; it’s really important to me,’ she told the publication this week.
