The Block EXCLUSIVE: Mitch Edwards and Mark McKie reveal how they plan to spend their whopping $744,444 prize money after winning the series

The Block Fans V Faves stars Mitch Edwards and Mark McKie have revealed how they plan to spend their whopping $744,444 prize money after winning the show.

The ‘stylish grandads’ walked away with the biggest prize fund on Sunday night’s episode, after their sophisticated home sold for $4,044,444 with a profit of $644,444 – plus an extra $100,000 for winning the series.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on Monday, the stylish grandads confirmed they plan to be sensible with their funds and spend it on their mortgage.

Congratulations! Mitch Edwards (left) and Mark McKie (right) were crowned the winners of The Block Fans v Faves for 2021 on Sunday night – taking home $744,444 in prize money

‘It sounds really boring – people may have noticed, we’re getting a little bit past our late thirties now so we need to be sensible!’ Mitch said.

‘So we’re going to pay off our mortgage just to make life easier. We’ve got a mortgage we can’t jump over, and that will change everything.’

They added that they had also purchased a 1970s house in Newport, Sydney, which they had intended to renovate and sell so they could downsize their own home.

But with their new found winnings, they said they could be in a position to keep the property.

The couple also commented on Tanya Guccione’s bombshell confession that she was the one who took the infamous photograph of the production schedule.

Despite being angry at first, both Mitch and Mark were incredibly polite when Tanya tearfully met up with the rest of the contestants after admitting what she’d done.

‘Like a lot of people, we all make mistakes,’ Mark said. ‘We all have things that we’ve done that maybe we regret. She did it on national TV and she’s been through enough.’

Speaking about her web of lies, Mitch added: ‘She couldn’t find a way out of that hole, and I think she’s had such a tough time that the last thing we wanted to was to make it worse.

‘We hope the Australian public can reflect on themselves. If you’ve never made a big mistake, don’t judge her. If you’ve made a mistake in life, give her grace.’

Mitch concluded: ‘She came and walked in and sat with us, so it was easier to go – “Look Tanya, we just need to get to auction.”‘
