Several areas in Mikel Arteta ’s squad have been exposed as weaknesses, with the Spaniard turning to young players in a bid to get results.
Though he has steadied the ship since Christmas and taken the Gunners to the semi-finals of the Europa League, it is clear that reinforcements will be needed when the window opens.
As well as bringing new faces to the Emirates, Arsenal will also attempt to clear the deadwood from Arteta’s squad.
Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest Arsenal transfer news…
Brighton set Bissouma price
Brighton have reportedly named their price for highly-rated midfielder Yves Bissouma, with Arsenal among the clubs eyeing a move for the 24-year-old.
The Athletic report that it will take a fee in excess of £40million to even get the Seagulls interested in discussing a deal.
Gunners close in on keeper
While Brighton are not keen to see Bissouma depart for anything less than a big-money fee, they are willing to let Mat Ryan move to Arsenal for a bargain price.
Ryan became a key part of the South coast side after their promotion to the top-flight, but fell out of favour under Graham Potter and joined the Gunners on loan in January.
Though he has only made two appearances since then, he has been a solid back-up to Bernd Leno and Football Insider now claim that Arsenal are ready to seal a £5million deal for the Australian.
Willock edges towards exit
Arsenal academy product Joe Willock is edging closer to a permanent departure from the Emirates Stadium.
The 21-year-old has impressed on loan at Newcastle, scoring three goals since joining the club at the end of January.
Steve Bruce has made his desire to bring Willock back to the North East clear and the Telegraph now claim that the Gunners would be willing to accept a fee in the region of £20m.
