Champions League qualification feels vitally important if the club wish to keep either Conte or Harry Kane and the prospect of going through the entire month without making a signing would have unpalatable to supporters.

Arnaut Danjuma – Villarreal, loan

Jude Soonsup-Bell – Chelsea, undisclosed

Porro had been Spurs’ leading target and signing him after a dramatic pursuit is a major boost. Conte has been eager to bring in a new right sided wing-back and the Spanish international is seen as huge upgrade on Emerson Royal, Matt Doherty and Djed Spence.

Danjuma, who Spurs stole from Everton’s grasp, offers cover to a frontline which has been decimated by injuries to Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski throughout the campaign. Soonsup-Bell, meanwhile, will join the club’s U21 squad before a loan exit this summer.

Outs:

Bryan Gil – Sevilla, loan

Matt Doherty – Atletico Madrid, free transfer

Djed Spence – Rennes, loan

Harvey White – Derby, loan

None of Gil, Doherty or Spence had convinced Conte, so their exits will unlikely have too much of an impact on Spurs’ first-team between now and the end of the season.
