Liverpool’s pre-season schedule in full as Reds head off on travels

Liverpool‘s busy summer transfer window might be slowing days as far as imminent signings go, but the Reds continue to make headlines in their pursuit of more long-term targets.

Having brought in three stars in the form of Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay, Jurgen Klopp appears to be content when it comes to major deals this year, but the German is still planning for the future at Anfield. With Sadio Mane out the door and speculated persisting over Mohamed Salah‘s future, it feels as if Merseyside could soon usher in a new era.

With that in mind, here’s the latest news and gossip from Anfield.

Liverpool ‘confident’ over Bellingham

Liverpool believe that Manchester City’s impending signing of Kalvin Phillips will put them in pole position to land Jude Bellingham next summer. The Sun report that after the Citizens saw their £45 million bid for Phillips accepted by Leeds United, the Reds’ chances of signing the 18-year-old have increased.

With Pep Guardiola’s midfield now jam-packed with talent, Liverpool could more easily offer Bellingham game time. Anfield chiefs are lining up a swoop for the English wonderkid next summer and Mirror Footballreported earlier this month that Klopp was willing to wait to land his signature.

Reds receive Danjuma blow

West Ham United have emerged as the frontrunners to sign Liverpool target Arnaut Danjuma. The 25-year-old Netherlands international has long been linked with a move to Merseyside, but the Irons are keen on bringing him to east London. West Ham manager David Moyes wants to upgrade his attack, according to the Guardian, although his club would likely have to fork out Danjuma’s £38 million release clause to take him off Villarreal’s hands.

Having contributed six goals in 11 Champions League games last season, the former Bournemouth winger has attracted interest from across Europe. The Reds might have to move quickly in order to not miss out.

Klopp’s fresh Henderson stance

Jordan Henderson remains firmly part of Jurgen Klopp’s plans for Liverpool. The Reds boss has affirmed the 32-year-old’s importance in a new documentary made by Nike about Henderson, who’d previously been tipped to be replaced by Bellingham as early as this summer.

“Nothing we achieved in the last few years would have happened without him, that’s easy to say,” Klopp stated. “There are so many important things you do over a season to keep a group together, to keep a group going in difficult moments, and he is great in that. He has speed, he has endurance, so he can run for ages.

“Defensive skills are great, offensive skills are really great: awareness, vision, passing. I expect from him nothing else than I expect from all the others: be the best version of yourself as often as [is] somehow possible. That gives us a good chance to win football games.”
